Dianna Davis

Musician Dianna Davis began her career as a classical pianist and clarinetist but has since expanded into styles such as folk, Irish, jazz, and improvisation. After receiving her Masters of Music in clarinet performance from Indiana University, she began teaching and playing in Indianapolis on the piano, clarinet, piano accordion, voice, and foot percussion. She is the Music Director at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis and plays with THIN AIR, Coffee Zombies, Iron Curtain Meltdown, The Edge of Erin, the Indianapolis Women's Chorus, and The Indianapolis Ceili Band.

For the past 17 years, Dianna has performed in many different venues, such as weddings, contra dances, choral concerts, orchestras, and festivals. She is also a private music teacher and the Music Director of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis. She has edited a Clarinet Method Book and is the scheduler and Vice President for Indy Contra Dance. Dianna's many groups and solo performances encompass many different styles of music including improvisation, Irish, swing, folk, French-Canadian, classical, and more! Dianna has studied with many musicians over the years: on clarinet including Eli Eban at Indiana University, William King and Solomon Baer at Millikin University, and George Silfies from the St. Louis Symphony.  Dianna has studied the piano with Judith Mancinelli at Millikin University and Stephanie Owen in Lebanon, IL. Dianna recently traveled to Ireland to study the piano accordion with Declan Payne at the South Sligo Summer School.  While she was there, Dianna also studied Sean Nos Dancing with Brenda O' Callaghan and took home the all-around prize for dancing.  You can see her doing foot percussion and Sean Nos dancing at many of her live performances with her bands.

 Dianna plays with Emily Ann Thompson at Indianapolis's Tuesday night contra dance.  Come dance the night away to fun and upbeat Irish music.  No dance experience or partner needed - come experience what one dancer called "swirly awesomeness" when interviewed on NPR.
